Catalyst Edit
Three key features of Catalyst Browse / Prepare
Clip selection using logs created during shooting
You can select clips by using Shot Marks and OK/NG/KEEP flags saved during shooting
Correction using metadata information saved during shooting
Fast and highly accurate image stabilisation is provided, along with compensation of focus breathing and horizon lock, plus rolling shutter reduction.
See support web page for information on supported cameras.
Colour grading using LUT/EI information saved during shooting
Support for Cine EI, Cine EI Quick, and Flexible ISO editing, and also for editing using LUT information saved during shooting
Selection using logs created during shooting. Seamlessly import into your PC for an efficient workflow
More efficient selection using log data
Shot Marks and OK/NG/KEEP flags saved during shooting can be imported, allowing you to easily and efficiently take over the work from somebody else (or hand over to somebody else) at the shooting site
Shot Mark
When selecting clips, users can filter by clips with Shot Marks, and perform tasks such as clip preview, jump playback and keyframe assignment utilising markers on the timeline.
- Please check the support page for your camera to see whether your camera is compatible with the Shot Mark function.
OK/NG/KEEP flag
Users can filter and search by clip ratings.
- Please check the support page for your camera to see whether your camera is compatible with the OK/NG/KEEP flag function.
Correction using metadata information saved during shooting
By utilising data from the gyro, users can make high-quality corrections that are free from distortion. Furthermore, by using the metadata, image analysis can be omitted, enabling rapid processing.
Precise corrections
Image stabilisation
Image stabilization is performed using metadata and lens information saved during shooting. It corrects camera shake which is noticeable when filming while walking. Catalyst Browse and Prepare also supports manual adjustment of the amount of correction applied, allowing precise image stabilization which can only be achieved through post-processing.
- See support web page for information on supported cameras.
Lens breathing compensation
Supports a lens breathing compensation function that minimises focus breathing, in which the angle of view changes when the focus is adjusted during shooting. It calculates the optimal crop amount in the clip area to be used for editing, and automatically computes the amount of breathing compensation to be applied. Catalyst Prepare also supports manual adjustment of the amount of compensation applied, allowing precise breathing compensation which can only be achieved through post-processing.
- See support web page for information on supported cameras.
Horizon Lock
This function corrects the horizon orientation using metadata saved during shooting to rotate the image. This is useful for example when the horizon has shifted during hand-held shooting,
- See support web page for information on supported cameras.
Rolling Shutter Reduction
This function improves image quality by correcting the rolling shutter phenomenon that tends to occur when shooting while panning the camera.
- See support web page for information on supported cameras.
- When shooting with a fixed camera, the type of rolling shutter phenomenon that is caused by a subject moving at high speed is not corrected.
- The correction effect is limited if the subject moves fast or in accordance with the panning movement of the camera.
Fast processing
Fast processing using gyro data
A 6-second clip recorded in full HD 60p is analysed in about 0.1 seconds, with gyro and lens information accurately projected and interpreted in 3D space, enabling ultra-fast, precise corrections including image stabilization and distortion correction.
Colour grading using the LUT/EI information from the time of shooting
Supports a wide variety of metadata information
You can import log recording mode information such as [Flexible ISO], [Cine EI] and [Cine EI Quick]. Catalyst Browse and Catalyst Prepare also provides a convenient workflow that allows users to apply colour grading using LUT consistently from shooting to editing.
- The Cine EI and Cine EI Quick modes shoot at Base ISO, so you can shoot videos with a good balance between noise and dynamic range
Features of Catalyst Edit
Timeline editing
Catalyst Edit allows users to edit projects accurately and easily. In addition to all the essential cutting tools for video editing, users can also edit the timeline using tools to add effects, titles, and more.
Available as Adobe Premiere Pro and Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve plugins
Catalyst Prepare edits can be used within Adobe Premiere Pro and Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve.
